Brokers with alternative business models form alliance
(MINNEAPOLIS) – A number of brokerage companies practicing alternative
business models such as flat-fee, fee-for-service and discounting have formed
an alliance for the purpose of sharing information about efforts to force them
out of business.
The new group is the American Real Estate Broker Alliance (AREBA). The current
head of the group is Albert Hepp of BuySelf Realty in Minneapolis.
Members of the group said a key purpose is to educate both consumers and other
real estate brokers about how alternative business models work. Some members,
all of whom are Realtor members, say they have been repeatedly challenged by
other Realtors because of the way they do business.
